Veer XL – great for twins & more!

Love: this wagon is really easy to setup & put away!! I love that it folds up so compact. Our two year old twin boys fit well side by side (they are 30lbs each) & had plenty of space on the other side for the infant car seat or even 2 more kids! It’s extremely easy to maneuver and to switch from push to pull. Having toddlers things get messy quick, being able to hose this down & not worry about fabric drying/ mold is a huge win!!

opportunities: I do think we will be purchasing some add ons- I wish it came with a shade cover and also will order a basket to be able to put more items (water bottles/ snacks). I

Easy and quick setup with a frame that’s built to last

Frankly, I was hesitant to purchase the City version in XL due to 2 main concerns that I couldn’t really get an answer for in stores:

  1. Limited maneuverability – I thought that having the handle on the fixed wheel side would limit the pull function and make it difficult to steer pulling in more rugged, hilly and rougher terrains.
  2. I questioned the solidity of a one point steering handle when used with more weight and believed it would feel rather loose.

I’ll cover these and more below!

Unboxing:

My take vs my husbands:

Me –

Unpacking and assembling together was intuitive, A+ for making it easy for users to put together in under 10 minutes and specially putting on and taking off tires. As for the weight, I did find this a tad heavy for me personally but this is the XL and if I had to choose between a flimsier smaller structure and this one, I’d choose this one. Not sure if there’s any room for improvement on the weight component material wise or construction wise but something to consider for future iterations.

Very picky husband (who is a manufacturing engineer) –

Was impressed by the ease of assembly (without sacrificing sturdiness) and assembly/disassembly of tires. Would’ve liked to see cleaner welding on the edges. Finds weight appropriate for the quality of materials and construction and was impressed with how firm and stable the frame is.

Initial reactions:

Rides and strolls smoothly – I can see this in a wide range of use cases like casual walking, shopping but also outside on flatter, easy trails and paths.

Maneuverability – We tested for the pulling concern on a hilly park and were pleasantly surprised. I actually found that it was easier to turn say, a 360 turn almost in place vs having the swivel tires on the handle side. Our nephew is still too little to leave sitting while we tested up and down the small hills but it occurred to use that better shock absorption could help kids feel more comfortable.

Steering construction quality: Tested for the strength of the one point steering handle carrying a weight of about 150 lbs and this wagon handled it very well! I’m still skeptical of how this will hold up further down the road with extended use and in more rugged terrain but for general park and flat surfaces, this felt firm and durable.

Who is this not for:

You most definitely need to have the extra trunk space (and consider anything else you’re taking with you such as backpacks and gear) if you’re taking this on a hike or camping trip because it will take up space. If you don’t have the extra space, I would opt for the smaller version. This does fit folded and with the tires on in a Tesla Model Y trunk but leaves very little space in the main trunk.

Considering the weight and placing this is the trunk of the car, it’s certainly on the heavy side. Something else to consider specially if you’re going to be putting this away after a long day at the beach or hiking. I already scratched the car with it and will buy a bumper protector.

Conclusion:

Aside from scratching up my car because I have a hard time pulling it up to load in the trunk, I’m happy to say we will not be returning this since it passed our tests for quality and steering. We can see this in our family for years to come and have already bought the nap system and will continue to add on accessories.

What ifs and what I’d like to possibly see in future models:

  1. Shock absorption – I’d love to see a future model that might have better shock absorption whether that’s thru some wheel apparatus or different tire materials like foam fill or air.
  2. 4 wheel swivel optionality – I’m wondering if a third version can have all 4 wheels swivel so the user can choose and control if the front or the back tires should be fixed based on the use and terrain.
  3. 2 point steering handle -Can we test having a handle that stems from 2 points instead of one in the middle? Would this improve the possible loosening and wiggle of the handle down the road after years of use?

Really love this wagon!

We love the wagon. We used the smaller veer and now with the second baby, we like the XL even better! More room to spread out and can throw in a balance bike or scooter etc. we love that you can hose it off!! We barely use strollers anymore.

four stars not five because we had a warranty issue right out the gate and dealing with veer customer service is not easy.

Absolutely love this wagon but would also love some improvements

We have a family of 2 small dogs (~13 lbs) and 1 baby (~20 lbs). The Veer City Cruiser XL has been the PERFECT fit for our family so far.

Pros:

  • The overall size of the wagon is perfect to wheel around all our babies
  • Initial set up is super easy and can be done by one person
  • Super easy to fold up. Everything is smooth and intuitive
  • Footwell is very roomy and when not being used for feet, can hold a lot. We put our uppababy diaper backpack in there (bonus: acts as a nice cushion for the dogs)
  • Seat is very sturdy and feels safe for the little one
  • Snack tray can be moved back and forth and clicks into place so room on each side is adjustable
  • The back wheels (larger ones) come off very easily if you have limited storage space (24″ width without the wheels)
  • Pushing the wagon is super easy and it maneuvers very well for its size
  • The comfort seat is actually very nice. 5 point harness is secure and the seat itself is very comfy. My son kind of melts into it on our walks
  • If you’re able to collapse the wagon and put in flat, you can keep some small things in the footwell and still collapse overall wagon 100%
  • Much smaller and manageable profile compared to other 4 seater wagons on the market

Cons:

  • There’s no suspension so bumps can hit a bit rough. We’ve only done city walking (ie sidewalks) and have had to be extra careful with even smaller bumps
  • At this price point, I would want canopies to be included but it’s not a deal breaker
  • Not a huge con but the comfort seat material is very thick so not ideal for super hot summer days. But fantastic for literally any other trip. The only annoying thing I would call out is the 5 point harness is separate from the regular seat (not a 5 point harness) so you have to shimmy the seat on

Notables:

  • Adult cupholders that come with it swing which i believe is intentional but it makes it difficult to put anything aside from closed drinks like water bottles
  • The width of the wagon at it’s largest point (28″) is only slightly larger than our uppababy vista (26″)
  • Just be careful when putting any weight or pressure on the handle if the weight distribution is uneven – we accidentally made it tip back a bit. I don’t believe this is a safety issue at all since we had to put quite a big of pressure but maybe not advisable to hang anything heavy like bags.
  • At this price point, I would want the footwell to collapse or have some sort of attachment included to make it flat for napping. There is a nap system however it sits on top of everything and is another large piece to carry around

Absolutely love my Veer!

I have two kids, 3 and 1, and am expecting my third. I’ve been on the lookout for an option that would allow me to easily transport all 3 kids anywhere we go— grocery stores, the farmer’s market, traveling, parks, and more. I ended up deciding to try the Cruiser City XL because of the 4 seats and how lightweight and easy to fold it is. We have been loving it! My kids are always excited to ride. I even had 2 other toddlers over one day, and the push was amazing with all 4 kids in tow. It makes grocery trips and outings so easy. I’m planning to get the car seat adapter when my 3rd arrives, and I can tell there will still be plenty of room for my other two kids. It fits great in the back of my van. I have no complaints at all! So glad I decided to go for it!

The BEST wagon stroller!

As a family of now five we have been through a lot of strollers and wagons. We continue to grow and the needs are ever changing but the veer cruiser city XL will be a constant for us! It allows all my girls to ride comfortable since they range from 10 months to 4.5 years old! We ultimately LOVE the push of the wagon. It does well in small spaces and allows me bring them whenever I need to! We had many wagons where the turning wheels were in the back but they knocked it out of the ballpark with putting them in the front of the cruiser city XL. We have used it on gravel, grass, and sand. It has done well in all those terrains! Another thing we love is how it cleans up so easily. A quick hose down is what this busy mom needs! I can easily lift it unlike my last wagon. It fits in the back of my ford expedition and Explorer with the third row up. I don’t even have to take off the wheels! The only con we can think of for this wagon is the need to buy the accessories separately. We are learning though with such a nice product, it might just be worth it!

pros:

•push is great (turning wheels in front)

•easy to clean

•enough room for my three kids ( 4,2,10 months)

•fits in my car with third row up

•easy to put up/down

cons:

•have to buy every accessory separately

• take off accessories while collapsing it to put away

  • Can multiple infant car seats be used in Cruisers at the same time?

Cruisers can accommodate one infant car seat with an adapter for your brand and model. A passenger may ride seated in the second seat at the same time

  • Yes! Unlike most double strollers, Cruisers can be run through most TSA scanners without having to go through special security lines. You may need to remove the rear tires using their one-touch removal feature for it to run through a security X-ray screener. Then just gate check once you arrive to the plane.

  • Cruisers are designed to get dirty but be easy to clean. Refer to the Cruiser Owners Manual for specific care instructions. Pro tip: Never use harsh detergents such as Dawn Powerwash because they may damage the finish.

  • Veer has designed its Cruisers to accept the most popular infant car seats from many great brands. You can find a complete list here: https://support.goveer.com/en-US/what-infant-car-seats-are-compatible-with-my-cruiser-178054

  • 2-seater and 4-seater Cruisers require mostly different accessories because they are different dimensions. Most 2-seater and 4-seater accessories are not compatible with each other. There are exceptions, like Cup Holders, Sidewall Kits, Catch All's and Cargo Nets, which are universal and can be used with either.
